Ling Guan is a Tier I Canada research chair in multimedia and computer technology, and a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Ryerson University in Toronto. He received his bachelor's degree from Tianjin University, China, master's degree from University of Waterloo, and Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. Ling works on image, video, and multimedia signal processing, and he's been published extensively in the field. He currently serves on editorial boards for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and other international journals. He chaired a 2006 IEEE international conference in Toronto and is a fellow of the IEEE, a fellow the Engineering Institute of Canada, and an elected member of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
